    Weight of Air

Oh look it hit Flickr Explore… Grassland bleached white, no edits, no erasures. Just a Summicron’s honest frame:40 degree heat, and a tree built to outlast us. Close to the solstice on the 21st of December.

This image featured on Flickr Explore but was never intended as anything but a print. This is a 24×36″ Giclée limited edition signed print.

Social media rewards bright, sparkly, and highly saturated images but they are hard to live with. This would look good in a room where you want some calm.

This 24x36" Giclée print on smooth peal photo paper. Single Gumtree on a hot day.

Old Black Dog. His experience shows.

His eyes may not me as bright, he may not be putting on a show for the human but this black and white image shot late in the day on a Leica APO 60mm . Selected for Flickr Explore

black and white image of an old black dog. A moment to himself, interrupted. The eyes show experience and are a little cloudy, his whiskers are grey . He looks mean because he is a pit bull but his gentle nature shines thorough.

    View of Melbourne from Altona

I was passing though Altona (as you do) and it was low tide allowing me to see around the corner to the city. You will notice a red sign. In the olden days ( last year) I would have edited this out, but it’s important that my photos show reality and not some AI fever dream.

    A snapshot of the coast

Saltbush, pigface and others make this a vibrant photo. It’s simple and was overlooked on the first cut. It’s one of those photos that needs to be printed.

    Evening walks with my camera

My job as a photographer is to make you look good, to document your event, make your product or food look amazing. This blog is not commercial, it’s not about trying to sell you something. This was taken on the tiny Leica Dlux7 . It constantly amazes me. The quality of the images it produces are really a class above anything I would expect from a compact camera.

First evening Photo of the Port

This location makes me think that with a bit of lighting this could be a great place for a photoshoot.

    Photographing Art

    A slice of time

Often a photograph will have amazing resolution and perfect focus but will still fails to accurately represent the art in the artists mind. This is because art is viewed over time, from different angles and seen in different light and different times of the day . Photography is about capturing a very specific moment and freezing it. We can only ever hope to document one moment, one light and at one time. That is the limitation ( and challenge) of photography.

This is a 150mm drawing and shot on a modern Leica camera and lens. The resolution of this macro lens is 1:1 which allows incredible detail for small work.

    Sometimes you get lucky…

Kandinsky shot in ACMI in Melbourne during an exhibition.

Shot with galley lighting, hand held camera and from one sneaky shot.

I ended up with a 3000px image after I had corrected it for distortion and straightness.
